Caledonia Flag Football needs referees for the spring, summer, and fall. Referees are an integral part of providing a fun, competitive, and fair experience for our kids. We are looking for individuals that not only understand the rules of the game, but have the physical ability to run around a bit and confidence to make sure all the players, coaches, and fans are following the rules and representing Caledonia the right way.
Here are some key details of being a referee:
Games will take place on Sunday afternoons, so that is when you would be expected to work. The spring schedule is not finalized but games will most likely occur at 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM on the same set of fields. Preference will be given to individuals that can work all games back to back compared to those that can only work one or two games.
Before reffing, you will need to pass a quiz that assesses your understanding of the rules, which is located in the coaches section.
You will be paid $25 per game, which typically lasts just under an hour.
We will provide a stopwatch, whistle, and flag.
Feel free to wear normal clothes. You will be moving around, so athletic clothes and shoes make the most sense. If you have Cal gear even better!
Here is how you can become a referee:
Express your interest by filling in some basic information in this form. This will include your availability.
Someone from our league will reach out to confirm your interest and share a link to the rules quiz.
Once you pass the quiz, you will be eligible to be assigned to games.
We will coordinate schedules and availability before assigning refs to games.
Our goal is to assign refs to games for the entire spring season (4/21, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19, 6/2, and 6/9) before the season begins. We understand that things come up, so we will accommodate changes as needed.
